Ever watch the T.V. show “Happy Days”?
I’ve always loved the Fonz. He’s the epitome of cool.

There’s a famous 3-part series of episodes where Richie, Fonzie, and Potsie all go to Hollywood.

Richie wants to take a shot at a career in acting, and the rest of the gang goes along for support. While enjoying Hollywood on his own, Fonzie ends up in a rivalry with a local hotshot known as "The California Kid."

The Kid challenges Fonzie to a series of daredevil stunts – including a motorcycle race, a social stunt, and finally a shark-jump.

But the Fonz isn’t afraid.

He knows he’s smooth.

He knows he’s COOLER.

In the final scene, Fonzie is water skiing in the ocean. His hair is greased back with gel. He’s bracing to hit this jump and launch over a huge shark with vicious fangs. He bends his knees and braces for the jump. Then hits it and flys over the shark, to an epic landing.

Hotties from the beach and everyone on the boat watching go wild. And of course…

He does it all wearing his infamous leather jacket.

And this got me thinking a lot about how guitar players try to play over backing tracks. They may pull up one called, "JAM TRACK IN A MINOR". But after a few minutes of “winging it”, they realize they’re stuck in one little spot on the neck. There are many dusty areas, and they can’t connect the fretboard.

They don’t come off like the Fonz.

But wouldn’t it be great if you could easily navigate the neck in any key?
