The Kingma & Brannen Open Hole Alto Flute is a marvel of engineering. I have been playing this instrument for a few years now. This video is a comparison of the open hole flute with a closed hole Kingma (which was my previous alto flute!).

The open hole flute is 1/3rd to 1/2 a pound lighter, and the key work makes significantly less noise. Nevertheless, the two flutes are comparable in sound.

(Note on the "Rite Of Spring" excerpt: there is one grace note omitted in this video. That was what my part indicated, but it's different from most editions, especially in the US.)
