Cold Blow and the Rainy Night is the third album by the Irish folk group Planxty. It was recorded in Sarm Studios, Whitechapel, London during August 1974 and released the same year. It takes its title from the third song on the album, Cold Blow and the Rainy Night: A story about a soldier boy begging a fair lassie in her bedrom window, to let him in - Do we need say more?

Josh O' Loughlin is a Graduate of Trinity College Dublin and DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Music Education Degree. His main study was the Irish Tenor Banjo under the guidance of the renowned Kieran Hanrahan. He is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Traditional Music Performance in DIT.

Born and raised in Barefield, Co. Clare, he was first introduced to music through his cousin Frances Custy and her father, Frank, at the age of 6. Having received private tuition from renowned banjo player Marcus Moloney (Co. Limerick) for many years, Josh went on to be involved with groups such as Inis Óg and the Tulla Junior Céilí Band. During this time he also appeared on RTÉ Radio 1's 'Ceili House' and TG4's 'An Samhradh Linn' with piper Máirtín Quigley, as well as taking part in many recordings and various projects including a cultural exchange with 'Bærum Spellemannslag' Music in Norway as a member of the 'East Clare Young Musicians'. This is where he met Kristian Dugstad in 2011.

Kristian Dugstad is the lead singer, mandolin and accordion player of the Irish and celtic music band Plastic Paddies, based in Norway. The band was formed in 2010, and have not only played in pubs all over the country, but introduced all kinds of audiences to the Irish music traditions, sharing stages with Norwegian groups and artists like "Vamp", "Bjørn Eidsvåg", "AdmiralP" and "Jaa9 og OnlklP"

A Plastic Paddy is a term for people of irish decent who appropriate stereotypical Irish customs and identity. The term has also been applied to those with no ancestral connection to Ireland who claim Irish identity. A Plastic Paddy may know little of actual Irish culture, but nevertheless assert an Irish identity. The Plastic Paddies were always fully aware of the negative connotations of the expression they have taken as their name. Their argument was “Take your biggest weakness and make it your strength.” A group of people with great love for Irish culture and music, that by coincidence were born in Norway. They will not let their nationality dictate their passion. Though never will have Irish passports, they have proven themselves worthy thorough years of great celtic music in Norway. And even their Irish friends have had to say “We love the Plastic Paddies”. Ask anyone!

Both Josh O'Loughlin and Plastic Paddies will play almost any kind of event, and have had great success in pubs, concert halls, clubs, weddings, birthdays and other parties. Get in touch to get great live music for you're next event:
