Dead Hard Drive Repair & Data Recovery Attempt - Dying PSU Burnt Out PCB Swap (Maxtor 80GB IDE)

Описание к видео Dead Hard Drive Repair & Data Recovery Attempt - Dying PSU Burnt Out PCB Swap (Maxtor 80GB IDE)

In this video I show the steps I took when attempting to repair some dead hard drives that have been damaged when the power supply of the computer they were installed in died. The system was around 15 years old, perhaps more and had a cheap, unbranded power supply. When the power supply blew up it also took the rest of the system out with it, including the motherboard, CPU, RAM, A USB pen stick that was connected and both of these hard drives.

Luckily I never throw out a hard drive so have quite a stockpile of drives I can use for spares / parts. These drives PCBs are damaged and have holes in some of the microchips so my idea was to try and find a suitable drive with a matching PCB and change that over to the dead drive, hoping that it is only the PCB that has been damaged and not the internals of the drive.

Come and find out with me through the duration of this video if I can get the dead drive going again and recover the lost data or if the rogue power supply has completely fried the hard drive inside and out!
