Conrail and Amtrak along the Mohawk River in the 1990's

Описание к видео Conrail and Amtrak along the Mohawk River in the 1990's

The former New York Central mainline west of Albany was a 4-track speedway along the Mohawk River across the upper third of New York State on its way to Buffalo. Now 2 tracks with passing sidings, the action was still busy with many Conrail trains as well as several Amtrak trains in each direction in the 1990's when we visited the Chicago line during the late Conrail era with a focus around the Amsterdam area. A short visit to Syracuse is also seen at the end of this video. Many night shots are taken at the Amtrak station just west of Amsterdam at Guy Park.
