July 2025 Japan Bike Tour Episode 1

Kicking off my bucket-list ride: bikepacking across Japan. It’s a short one-week trip, but already worth every pedal stroke.

Day 1 takes us from Tokyo through Hakone and into Fuji City, where we crashed at a hostel for the night. With Komoot guiding the way, city traffic wasn’t the nightmare most people warn about. We cruised out through river paths, bridges, and quiet outskirts before the real climbing began.

Along the way: plenty of vending machine breaks, classic combini breakfasts, and a few temples and shrines tucked into the ride. We ended the day on tired legs but with that perfect mix of adventure and exhaustion that makes bike touring so addictive.

This series will follow the full Tokyo - Fuji loop, plus a couple of bonus rides in Tokyo. Expect weekly episodes full of food stops, scenic roads, misadventures, and maybe a few surprises from Mt. Fuji himself.
