Описание к видео Ottokar Nováček - Perpetuum Mobile (1895)

Perpetuum Mobile, or Perpetual Motion, is the most famous and most widely played work written by the Czech composer Ottokar Novacek. The work shares a title with another Perpetual Motion piece as part of the Op. 5 set. He studied under his father, attended the Leipzig conservatory, but eventually immigrated to the United States. Although he started as a violinist, he transferred to viola and became the principal viola in one of the New York orchestras. Unfortunately for his career yet fortunately for posterity in the music world, a heart condition forced him to give up professional performance, and Novacek devoted the remainder of his life to composing music. By the time he passed away in 1900, he left behind a small but splendid œuvre of compositions.
