If you get this error in Overwatch and the error says "Your Rendering device has been lost! Application closing." Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

Try changing from DX11 to DX12 in the Overwatch settings
To change Overwatch 2 to DirectX 12, launch the game, go to the main menu, and select Options → Video. Under the Graphics API setting, choose DirectX 12 from the dropdown menu and restart the game to apply the change.

If you have recently updated your GPU driver, this error mostly occurs due to NVIDIA driver updates.

Try rolling back to the previous version

But first, you'll need to clean your drivers using DDU before installing the new driver.

Reboot into Safe Mode


While in Safe Mode, open Display Driver Uninstaller, select your GPU: NVIDIA, then choose Clean and Restart.

Download the previous versions of drivers

Also make sure to update your windows if you have pending updates

Try reseating the GPU.
