Mike and Kyle Barnes are a local father-daughter entrepreneurial duo with contending political views. In 2009, they founded parent company Forbedre ('to improve' in Danish) on the idea that any problem can be solved using a combination of education and civil discussion. To provide a stage for the practice of this idea, The First Amendment Public House opened in Wooster in December 2012. The public house serves the best burger in town, an impressive craft beer selection and monthly civil debates. Mike and Kyle invite the public to use the space to discuss big ideas, enjoy gaining an understanding of the opposing view and learn the lost art of civil debate.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
