Описание к видео Harrison Schmitt - A Trip to the Moon - 1995 MIT Mass Space Grant Consortium Public Lecture

U.S. astronaut Harrison ’Jack’ Schmitt talks about his experiences working on the Moon and conducting scientific geological research, during the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. He is the guest speaker for the annual public lecture presented by the Massachusetts Space Grant Consortium at MIT.

Dr. Schmitt is an American geologist, retired NASA astronaut, university professor, former U.S. senator from New Mexico, and the most recent living person to have walked on the Moon (as of 2019). He is also the last living crew member of Apollo 17.

Massachusetts Space Grant (MASGC) is a consortium of 4-year colleges and universities, community colleges and public outreach organizations. MASGC's primary goal is to represent NASA in Massachusetts, to promote public understanding of and support for space exploration and research, and to encourage students to choose courses of study that will lead them to enter the technical work force. One of MASGC's primary activities is providing fellowships to Massachusetts students to enable them to engage in study and research projects and to attend meetings that they would not be able to do without Space Grant support.
