If I was building a kit from scratch and wanted to be truly budget-friendly, I would substitute:

$25 Sofirn SST40 headlamp for the Maxxeon Cyclops
$3 cheapo knife for the Remington
Ditch the mini tripod and tape measure (my least-used items)

You'd be hard-pressed to find more quality at that price point.
