A video featuring scenes from the metre gauge Chemin de Fer de La Baie de Somme in May 2024. An unexpected bonus on our visit was steam working on the steeply graded line from St.Valery sur Somme to Cayeux sur Mer on the last two days of our holiday. The first part of the video features the Haine St.Pierre loco, No.15, built 1922 working between the two towns. This loco is the most powerful on the railway and had no trouble with the steep climbs.
The second part sees trains working between St.Valery and Noyelles sur Mer with the following locos;
Cail No.2 built in 1889 which saw service for Peurto Rico Railways seen leaving St.Valery then crossing the salt marshes on the way to Noyelles.

The SCF Verney Diesel Railcar No. X-212 is seen approaching Noyelles and I assume this was pressed into service as an additional train due to the large numbers of visitors as was the diesel hauled train heading into Noyelles from Le Crotoy behind 1966 built diesel no.824, which ran on the Catalan railway network.

Buffaud No.3714 built in 1909 is seen leaving Noyelles with a train from Le Crotoy to St.Valery having run round the train in Noyelles. This loco was intended to run cab first when new, giving the driver maximum visibility as the lines on which it worked ran through many villages.
The final shot sees Cail No.2 leaving Noyelles with a train for Le Crotoy.
The video was filmed on the 9th and 10th.May 2024
