Merry Christmas! F0r this year’s holiday special it’s a double header where we review the final installment of the “Mission Impossible” franchise, “The Final Reckoning”. Did it live up to the hype? Did it give Ethan Hunt and his buddies at the Impossible Missions Force the proper send off, or did it all fizzle into nothing? We go over the highs and lows of the movie, whether the Entity was the perfect foil to Ethan Hunt, take a look at some callbacks to previous movies, if there was a particular focus on a certain part of Hayley Atwell's anatomy, see if maybe either Luther or Benjy made better heroes than Ethan when facing an AI villain, and speculate if Tom Cruise has finally signed off or if he will have another go at saving the world in the near future?
The Robot then dives into “Ghost Protocol” to see if there are any parallels between Final Reckoning and this installment from 2011, explore Ethan’s messianic complex, if maybe Paula Patton deserved more screen time in other installments, if the Entity wasn't just another incarnation of Cobalt, and how this movie sets up the narrative for the remaining films in the franchise.
