I am uploading this video as many of the friends and the subscribers requested me to show the usual Friday prayer that I do at home.

Lighting a lamp or Deepam is to expel the haziness from the mind and heart. Light is the image of sparkling the brain.
We should spread satisfaction all over the place. The oil deepam connotes the light of knowledge, which disperses the darkness of obliviousness. It sparkles itself and causes the items around to sparkle because of its appearance. The fire which is at the center of the five components Earth,Water,Fire,Air,Space-and gives them power and warmth is the wonder that is at the center of the body of every living being. There are three Sandhyas, one at dawn, another in the noontime and one at sunset. Since the sun sparkles splendidly in the late morning, no extra light is required. However, at the other two sandhyas, an extra light is required. #tradition #traditional #culture

Wicks role in Deepam

Cotton Wicks in general are used. We must light a minimum of two wicks in the deepam, one to represent the woman and the other to represent the man, thus symbolizing the family unit which is fundamental in spirituality.

The Significance of Wicks:

Single wick (Eka Mukha Deepam) for normal benefit.
Two wicks (Dwimukha deepam) brings harmony and peace in the family and relatives.

Earthen lamp or Agal Vilakku

Agal vilakku is considered as powerful in all prayers, in worshiping and in all religious riturals.

Simple slokas to chant

Sarva-mangala-mangalye Shive sarvartha-sadhike;
Sharanye Tryambake Gauri Narayani namo'stu te;

Meaning

*sarva mangala mangalye – To auspiciousness of all auspiciousness
shiva to the Good
sarvarrtha saadhike – to the accomplisher of all objectives
sharanye – to the Source of Refuge
tryambake – to the mother of the three worlds.
Gauri – to the Goddess who is Rays of Light
Naaraayani – Exposer of Consciousness
Namostute We bow to you again and again. We worship you.

Ayur Dehi Dhanam Dehi Vidhyam Dehi Maheswari
Samastam Akilam Dehi Dehi me Parameshwari

Meaning

Oh Maheshwari give me long life, wealth and knowledge.
Oh Parameshwari give me all of these.
