Exploring from North Station to Christopher Columbus Park

Join me as we continue our Boston Harborfest 2024 adventure, starting just outside North Station, TD Garden, and The Hub. This area is rich in history and a central hub for transportation and entertainment in Boston.

We begin our walk at North Station, a major transportation hub serving Amtrak, MBTA commuter rail, and subway lines. The current station, located beneath the TD Garden arena, has a rich history dating back to the 1840s when it first served the Boston and Maine Railroad. The station and the arena above have undergone several renovations, with the latest updates providing modern amenities and expanded services.

TD Garden is Boston's premier sports and entertainment arena, home to the Boston Bruins and Celtics. It replaced the original Boston Garden in 1995 and has since hosted numerous concerts, shows, and sporting events.

The Hub on Causeway, a new development adjacent to North Station, offers a mix of retail, office, residential, and entertainment spaces, enhancing the vibrancy of this historic area.

Our journey takes us through the North End, Boston's Little Italy, where we see the Zakim Bridge. Named after civil rights activist Leonard P. Zakim and the Battle of Bunker Hill, this iconic cable-stayed bridge opened in 2003 and symbolizes unity and modern engineering.

As we walk, we pass by neighborhood parks, witness four tennis players in a doubles match, and see a guy shooting hoops. We stroll through residential blocks and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of cafes, bakeries, and restaurants in this part of the city.

Our walk concludes at Christopher Columbus Park, a beautiful waterfront park featuring a trellis, open lawns, and a performance stage. This park is a popular spot for relaxation and events, offering stunning views of Boston Harbor.
