(21 Apr 2014) A Ukrainian journalist and activist was detained on Monday by pro-Russian separatists in Slovyansk.
Irma Krat was brought blindfolded by her captors into the courtyard of the local security services building, where local and international media were gathered.
With one of her captors standing next to her, Krat said she was "being treated well".
After her remarks, her captors wrapped a white cloth over her face and led her back into the building, which they occupy.
Krat was an activist in the Kiev protests that led to the removal of Russia-friendly president Viktor Yanukovych in February.
The recent events in the tense area have sparked a propaganda war as both sides appear to build up military resources.
Slovyansk is one of many cities in Ukraine's Russian-speaking eastern region where separatists are demanding greater ties with Russia.
