2020 Introduction to Permaculture (4/6) - Microclimates To Enhance Food Security with Mitch Rawlyk

Описание к видео 2020 Introduction to Permaculture (4/6) - Microclimates To Enhance Food Security with Mitch Rawlyk

Our environmental technology intern, Mitch Rawlyk, shines some light on some low albedo microclimate hacks (there are some seriously hot tips in here). Mitch comes to us with an MSc. in applied meteorology, and has spent a lot of time thinking about how to apply very basic concepts towards growing (and protecting!) your food. In this short lesson, he goes over the three principles he feels are super important to know when thinking about microclimate, and some real life examples of microclimate in action! In our upcoming permaculture design course, Mitch will be taking the reins for the climate section and will be going over everything from the global climate system, to how to assess your land for frost pockets, to how to read a weather map.

Boundary Layer Climatology by Tim Oke is constantly sourced in this introduction to microclimate and is a fantastic resource for those who want to learn more of the nitty gritty of micro and macro scale climatological processes; another great resource is Climate Near The Ground by Rudolf Geiger.
