Mini review: My first racing game since Need for Speed: Heat and honestly that game may well be a masterpiece compared to the fast and the furious crossroads. Most of the game is just driving from point A to point B with some major set-pieces thrown in. The story is generic and predictable, even by Fast and Furious standards. They got some of the major characters from the franchise to voice themselves (Dom, Letty, Roman) but a lot of times they just sound like they're talking into the mic. Rome especially. I kept thinking, "He would've screamed that line if it were in one of the movies." It's also pretty short. And even then it felt like it could've been shorter because the driving doesn't feel great or fun. You would think and hope that a car game based on a multi-billion dollar franchise about cars would have good driving mechanics. There's also a severe lack of iconic cars you'd expect to see from the franchise. Many cars in the game have never been seen or featured in the films. Speaking of the movies, there are a lot of references to events from them in the game. Maybe too many because sometimes it seems like that was all they could do to make it feel related to the franchise at all.
