Amtrak Lake Shore Ltd along the Hudson River from Albany to New York City

Описание к видео Amtrak Lake Shore Ltd along the Hudson River from Albany to New York City

The last leg of the journey aboard Amtrak's Eastbound Lake Shore Limited from Albany Rensselaer to New York Penn Station.

At Albany, the train divides. The front portion of the train continues east towards Boston, terminating at Boston South Station (denoted as Train #448). The locomotives from Chicago continued to Boston.

The reminder of the consist headed southbound running parallel to the Hudson River all the way to New York City. Amtrak's Genesis locomotives used south of Albany come from the 700 class P32AC-DM model dual mode diesel - 3rd rail electric, as pure diesel locomotives are prohibited from entering Penn Station. Loco 714 was at the helm of the consist on the day of filming.

Originally the service terminated at Grand Central Terminal. Nowadays, on entering Manhattan all Amtrak trains use the old New York Central's West Side freight line, now known as the Empire Connection, to reach New York Penn Station. The disused section of this former freight line south from Penn Station has been repurposed as the High Line, a well known tourist attraction.

The stops were: -

• Rhinecliff (49:32)
• Poughkeepsie (1:07:04)
• Croton Harmon (1:51:47)
