Southern Italy was surSouthern Italy was surprisingly vegan-friendly and there was always a fully plant-based dish on the menu. Here’s a review of what I ate:⁣

Fava beans and wild chicory (fave e cicoria) is a staple dish in the region and is so hearty and rustic. Definitely something I will be making at home 👨🏼‍🍳⁣

The signature pasta is orecchiette (aka little ears) that is served in a broccoli rabe sauce. I also had a red sauce orecchiette and a super local chickpea pasta dish. All delicious 🤤⁣

Focaccia is also very popular in the south and this one was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. Focaccia is made with olive oil instead of butter and the toppings are completely customizable 🍅⁣

I found some sweet and savory baked goods for snacks throughout the trip but the vegan gelato was still unbeatable. We had gelato at least 1-2x per day and I’m not mad about it 😂⁣
