I was looking for a small, pocket camera that could shoot videos in high resolution. At the end I decided to go for the Vado HD (1st generation) because it has a lot of recording memory and a very good wide angle lens. I bought it in April 2009.

With 8 GB of memory and a (removable, rechargeable) battery you can film up to approx. 2 hours. An extra backup battery proved to be very usefull during holidays. At the end of each day I recharged both batteries with a small USB charger.

I watched back my videos through a HDMI cable (included) directly connected to the hotel's LCD TV. Alternatively, you can connect an AV-cable (not included) but then you don't get HD quality.

Included is a silicone protection skin/case. The Vado HD doesn't look so nice with it but I found it very useful for protection and therefore always use it.

Minor points of having a pocket video cam is that it doesn't have a optical zoom (it has 2x digital zoom) and video stabilization. But for me it is more important that the cam is very small (10 x 5,5 x 1,7cm) so that I can carry it around in my pocket. For me that's part of the fun.
