HDJ40/80 Extracab Build FJ40 HJ47

Always liked the 40 series ute but found them a bit cramped inside for room. Set about gathering some parts and built a 40 series ute with an extra foot in the body. Only needed Chassis and front part of the body, some doors and the headlight surround so why not!.

Set it on an 80 series chassis and powered it by Toyota's 1HD-FT engine.

Took photo's along the way. Just under 2 years to build it from start to finish. Painted it Mustard as it stands out and looks smart in todays bland silver or black crop of modern vehicles.

Added an intercooler and new turbo to up the power a bit. Getting 530NM at the wheels at 1600rpm and 130kW.
It is very comfortable to drive. Feels like it can go anywhere and loaded up with camping gear should see a fair bit of touring over the next 30 years.
