Hi guys,

Welcome back to our channel! Earlier this year, we took a trip to Makassar to attend a family event. If you haven't already known, Makassar is the largest city in eastern part of Indonesia and the capital city of South Sulawesi province. The city of Makassar is a bustling cosmopolitan town, home to a diverse ethnic group that was once called Ujung Pandang. Attractions in the heart of Makassar range from historical sites, boardwalk waterfront, a plethora of culinary treats and architectural landmarks. While we didn't get much chance to explore historical and beautiful sites due to a very tight schedule...we did manage to sneak-out and eat some of the best and exotic food in Makassar. In our opinion, Makassar is truly a food paradise of Central Indonesia.

So, in case you are wondering what to eat here, below are our recommendations for food or restaurants to try in Makassar:

1. Warung Kopi Phoenam
Jl. Jampea No.5E, Pattunuang, Kec. Wajo, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90174, Indonesia
--------------------
Warung Kopi Phoenam or Phoenam Coffee Shop could be said to be a pride of Makassar, because it originated from the provincial capital of South Sulawesi, circa 1946. This spot is potentially the best spot to have that morning coffee before starting your day. As for the food, the choices are typically comfort food in a kopitiam; either toasted or egg-soaked and fried egg or instant noodles with various toppings

2. Kedai Aan Ping Lao
Jl. Sulawesi No.188, Ende, Kec. Wajo, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90164, Indonesia
--------------------
A short walk from Phoenam coffee shop is another spot to have amazing breakfast, Kedai Aan Ping Lao... to try amazing pork or chicken porridge. The portion was massive and the toppings are super generous. It is very special because the porridge is served with a raw egg yolk!

3. Apong Seafood
Jl. Diponegoro No.95, Melayu, Kec. Wajo, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90157, Indonesia
--------------------
Makassar is THE place to fill your tummy with a wealth of seafood. from scrumptious chili crabs to barbecued fish, steamed prawns and all kinds of seafood, all freshly caught at sea. There are plenty of restaurants to try the seafood but this restaurant is probably the most popular in this city...it's called APONG. And some of the popular menu here includes: Grilled Fish Cake in Banana Leaves called otak-otak with their special dipping sauces, Crab with Angsio Sauce, Kang Kung Asap or Morning Glory in a hot plate with seafood, and also this gigantic white-flesh fish with Parape sauce amongst other local fish.

4. Coto Makassar - Coto Paraikatte
Jl. A. P. Pettarani No.125, Bua Kana, Kec. Rappocini, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90231, Indonesia
--------------------
Coto Makassar is probably the most famous dish to come from this city. It is a rich stew made from ground peanuts. The main protein in the dish is beef and is often served with the internal part of the beef such tripe, beef lungs, beef intestine, and beef brains. This delicious hot steamy bowl of soup is, of course, served best with a plate of warm fluffy jasmine rice wrapped in banana leaves called `burasa` or `ketupat`.

5. Pisang Epe
Losari Beach
--------------------
Any trip to Makassar would not be complete without trying the local specialty dessert, pisang epe. Pisang epe is made from lady finger bananas that have been grilled, then flattened in a press and covered with a delicious palm sugar syrup. It also comes in such variations as cheese, chocolate, durian, coconut, and many more. In the evening Pisang epe vendors (there are literally hundreds of them) line the promenade of Losari Beach...so pick a spot and take a seat.

6. Konro Karebosi
Jl. Gn. Lompobattang No.41-43, Pisang Utara, Kec. Ujung Pandang, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90115, Indonesia
--------------------
Just before we leave Makassar we hit out to eat KONRO...It is basically traditional beef ribs dishes. They come in two variations the serve Sop Konro which is the beef ribs in traditional dark soup and Konro Bakar which is the grilled beef ribs, served with tasty peanut sauce. And one of the popular spot to eat Konro or Beef Ribs is Konro Karebosi.

And that's all. We hope you enjoy this video and see you in another food and travel video.
