- Tamsulosin is an α1-Adrenergic antagonist. It blocks α1-adrenergic receptors in prostate, resulting in relaxation of bladder neck and prostatic smooth muscle.

- So it is used by men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, benign prostatic hyperplasia.

- It is available as 0.4 mg tablets.

- The usual dose of Tamsulosin is 0.4 mg/day, administered 30 minutes after the same meal each day. And if there is no response after 2-4 weeks, the dose can be increased to 0.8 mg/day.
