She has the blood of the century’s great music maestros coursing through her veins – the mridangam maestro Palghat Mani Iyer, her maternal grandfather and the living legend in Carnatic vocal music Dr.D.K.Pattammal, her paternal grandmother. Although the finer nuances were taught by her grandmother, it is remarkable that Nithyasree has carved out a distinct style for herself and emerged as a serious artiste.
