I was invited to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) to meet the pilots, parachutists, and crew, as well as see their awesome aircraft up close: Chris Fucci of the SOCOM Para-Commandos, Mike Wiskus and his Lucas Oil stunt plane, the GEICO Skytypers, and Kirby Chambliss & Red Bull Air Force. This was on Friday, May 7, 2021, one day before the 2021 Fort Lauderdale Air Show on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. The teams were taking off and landing as this was Rehearsal Day for the big show.

PART 2: Michael Wiskus is known as "that crazy guy in the orange biplane." Mike and his Pitts S-1-11B become one in the air, performing incredible aerobatic maneuvers that seem to defy the laws of aeronautics. In this video we get to meet Mike Wiskus and his iconic orange Lucas Oil Aerobatics stunt plane up close and personal. We'll see him refuel just outside the hangar before taking off to perform his mind-bending moves over the Atlantic Ocean at Fort Lauderdale Beach for the 2021 Fort Lauderdale Air Show. All scenes of Mike at the Air Show itself were recorded on Sunday, May 9, 2021.

"Known as the Super Stinker, the S-1-11B was created for competition aerobatics. A field that was becoming more and more dominated by monoplanes. Especially Soviet machines such as the SU-26, -29, and -31 at the time. In fact, Mike took this particular Super Stinker to a silver medal in the 2004 world championships in Sweden.
He's owned the Lucas Oil Pitts S-1-11B since 2000 and, with the help of Tom Kerns, rebuilt it after purchasing it on eBay as a wreck. The Lucas Oil Pitts has been extremely modified from it's original build. Adding full span ailerons for a faster roll rate, 60% larger rudder and elevator for more authority, longer gear allowing Michael to stand the aircraft up in place without hitting the propeller, always striving to get just that much more out of this incredible bird."
