Ho-Chunk sculptor, painter, carpenter, weaver, and mentor to many, Truman Lowe was a very accomplished artist. Truman past in early 2019 at the age of 75 but his legacy is robust and lives on through his work and those he touched. He taught in the UW system for decades and created countless works of art during that time. His focus was sculptures exploring his Native American heritage and the strong bond he had to nature.

A portion of his works was brought to Downtown Milwaukee and the Lower Eastside thanks to the efforts of Sculpture Milwaukee. Although he has had many exhibitions over his this career he had very few solo exhibitions in Milwaukee. Truman was a legend and extraordinarily gifted. His work is minimal but underneath lies layers of sophistication. They say calmness is the cradle of power and when you see Truman's work you can feel exactly that.
