Big Ash Potash Pond!

The potash pools along Potash Road in Moab, Utah, are a striking feature of the landscape! These vibrant blue ponds are actually potash evaporation ponds used in the process of mining potash, a type of potassium salt that is mostly used in fertilizers. These pools create a unique and otherworldly contrast against the red and orange hues of the surrounding desert, making them a fascinating subject for photographers and a curious sight for visitors exploring the area!
You can access this trail via Shafer Trail or Utah State Road 279. A portion of the the trail is on private property, but the company that owns the land allows people to travel on the designated road.
