You may be familiar with the Shazam app already, and know that you can use it to identify songs playing out loud in your surroundings, such as on the radio or in a show or movie you’re watching. With a new app update, Shazam can now identify songs playing within your device, so you can use it on nearly any app on your smartphone.

To identify songs on social media apps using Shazam, first navigate to the video or song you’d like to identify. Thn open up the Shazam app and tap the blue S button to have the app begin listening for songs to identify. Then, re-open the content with the song you’d like to identify and allow Shazam a few moments to do its thing. After 30 seconds or so, you can navigate back to the Shazam app and find the information for the song you’ve identified. You can even listen to a sample of the song to confirm that it’s the same. If you subscribe to Apple music, you’ll have the option to open the full track in the Apple music app. Your previously identified songs will be listed in the My Music section at the bottom of the Shazam app.
