Hello and welcome back to North East Nostalgic!

Today we’re at Beamish Museum as Drovers Tavern and Pottery opened this weekend in 1820s Georgian Pockerley , and I had to share this with you as I’m such a huge Beamish fan!

Drovers Tavern and Pottery are located up the bank behind Pockerley Old Hall, showing how rural life was in the North East of England before the hustle and bustle of industry!

The Drovers were really important to the economy of rural North East England, bring thousands of cattle annually from the North of Scotland into the North of England before being sold in marketplaces. The Drovers needed somewhere to rest so inns and taverns sprung up, being the perfect places to stop off for a bite to eat and a pint or two before heading on your way!
