I’m gonna tell you ‘How immigration has affected the United States in 60 seconds…COVID-19 edition.

In the U.S., 6.3 million immigrants are essential workers on the front lines in our fight against — and recovery from — COVID (source: https://cnn.it/3yYIfpJ).

Immigrants are essential to industries and businesses, such as health care and social services; grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations; manufacturers of food, medicine, soap and cleaning products; agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting; bus, metro and taxi drivers; postal service workers; and scientific research and development.

1 in every 4 doctors is an immigrant. And in many rural communities, immigrants are the only doctors for miles around (source: https://cnn.it/3hIgFXO).

As well as three of the major pharmaceutical companies providing vaccines in the fight against COVID-19 - BioNTech, Pfizer, and Moderna - were all founded by immigrants (source: https://bit.ly/3igZaNH).

Do you like food? Well…

22% of workers in the U.S. food industry (source: https://cnn.it/3yYIfpJ, https://bit.ly/2VJQ3xk),
37% of meat processing industry workers (sources: https://bit.ly/36BIE5d, https://bit.ly/2VJQ3xk, https://lat.ms/3hE2Byz)
And 35% of crop production workers are all immigrants (sources: https://cnn.it/3yYIfpJ, https://bit.ly/3krlffb)

And over 200,000 (source: https://bit.ly/36JvOBT) immigrant youth protected by DACA are classified as essential workers and nearly 70% of undocumented immigrants hold jobs essential to the fight against COVID (source: https://nbcnews.to/3wHTQrM).
