It is the most well known Buddhist temple in Bahan Township of Yangon Myanmar. Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple houses one of the most revered reclining Buddha images in the country.

Hello Everyone! Welcome and in today’s video I’m going to Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple. This video is from my Myanmar trip in 2019 and day was my 2nd day of Yangon vlog.

Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple is the most well known Buddhist temple in Bahan Township of Yangon Myanmar. It houses one of the most revered reclining Buddha images in the country.

The construction was sponsored by a wealthy Burmese Buddhist, Sir Po Tha, in 1899. But the Buddha's face had an aggressive expression.

In the 1950s, the old Buddha image was demolished and buddha temple trustees began work to replace the image.

It's Reclining Buddha image is 66 metres long, and one of the largest in Burma.
