Vappu Vibes in Helsinki: Celebrating Spring with Finland's Biggest Festival! (1 May 2024)

May Day traditions in Finland have stayed very much the same over the decades. Colorful balloons, serpentine throws and student caps are an important part of the celebration – as are sweet delicacies such as sima, tippaleipä and sugar doughnuts. In Helsinki, May Day traditionally includes workers’ Labour Day parades and picnics in the Kaivopuisto Park. We collected May Day images from the last hundred years.
