Описание к видео Progressive rock & metal album episode 53 - Spock's Beard Discography pt. 4 review

#SpocksBeard

Welcome to a special edition of the progressive rock & metal album review series and today i am going to be taking a look at the amazing and impressive catalogue from one of the greatest and most important bands to ever come out on the progressive rock scene in the last 30 plus years, a band that needs no introduction, the one and only, legendary american progressive rock band, Spock's Beard.

Spock's Beard was formed in 1992 by brothers Neal & Alan Morse. The original Spock's Beard lineup was comprised of keyboardist / vocalist Neal Morse, guitarist Alan Morse, drummer Nick D'Virgilio and bassist John Ballard. Ballard would leave before the band released their debut album and would be replaced with Dave Meros, Ryo Okumotu would join shortly after. The lineup of Neal Morse, Alan Morse, Dave Meros, Nick D'Virgilio & Ryo Okumotu is looked at by many as the classic Spock's Beard lineup.

The classic Spock's Beard lineup would release six studio albums but Neal Morse would shock fans and his bandmates by leaving after the completion of 'Snow' as he felt that God wanted him to move on to other things.

In a move very similar to Genesis when Peter Gabriel left to pursue a solo career and Phil Collins took over as the band's vocalist, Nick D'Virgilio would do the exact same thing as he would step up as the band's replacement for Neal Morse. Spock's Beard would release four studio albums with Nick D'Virgilio but he would leave to join Cirque du Solei. He is currently a member of Big Big Train and plays with other artists and bands like Steve Hackett & Karmakanic to name a few. He is also a member of Morse, Jennings & D'Virgilio.

This would leave Spock's Beard in a dire situation without a singer and a drummer but as always, Spock's Beard would do what they always do best and that's not only soldier on but continue and thrive. They would add two new members to the band, drummer Jimmy Keegan and singer Ted Leonard from Enchant.

As impressive as Spock's Beard are in the studio and they are impressive, i feel that they sound even better live. They always take things up another notch and really stretch their music with tons of extended solos while delivering top notch musicainship. Spock's Beard are an incredible live band and one of the best i have ever seen. There's so magic in a Spock's Beard live show and they not only bring their 'A' but are always on top form everytime they hit the stage.

For today's special edition which is the fourth and final part of this four part special, i am going to be discussing Spock's Beard catalogue of official albums which is a total of 8 live recordings. As always, i will be talking about each album individually and choosing which one i think is the best.

Not an easy challenge as all of these live albums are excellent with no weaks ones, this was a very hard one as i love all of these albums and any of them could be a number one or an all time favourite. There are no bad albums in Spock's Beard's catalogue
