In this video, Andrew discusses making a 70V speaker louder using transformer tap settings. He will also explain speaker decibel levels and how they affect the tap setting you may choose.

What is speaker tap settings? 70-volt speakers have a built-in transformer that allows you to adjust their wattage. You can set the tap to determine how loud the speaker can go. The higher the tap, the louder and the lower the tap, the softer the volume.

Every speaker also has a sensitivity rating, measured in decibels (dB) using 1 watt from a distance of 1 meter. In case you aren't familiar with decibels, here is an example breakdown for reference:
30 dB = a whispering voice
60 dB = normal talking voice
90 dB = a lawn mower up close
120 dB = a concert or club

You lose 6 dB every time you double the distance from the speaker. This means that the further away the listener is from the speaker, the higher wattage you need to tap your speakers.

However, your ideal speaker tap setting will also depend on the kind of atmosphere you have and the volume level you want. A noisy restaurant or bar will need higher levels than a dentist's office or spa. Additionally, not every speaker has the same sensitivity or wattage taps available.
