In this video, you’ll see me working with a one-year-old who starts off very upset and crying. Using a powerful approach called safety circles, I help him calm down, regulate his emotions, and build trust in the water.

Safety circles give the child a secure “safe place” where they can play and feel comfortable, then progress gradually with more challenging skills each time. In each circle, we go out into the pool, practice a simple skill, and return to that safe place. As he becomes more confident, we add more swim drills while always reassuring him that the safe place is there.

This method helps babies and toddlers feel supported, calm, and in control — making swim lessons more positive and effective.
