Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) is not a new term, and most of us are aware of its benefits and have availed its benefits too. But there are many buyers out there, including Magicbricks users, who are not aware of how to apply for this scheme online or to avail of benefits under it.

Announced by the central government in 2015, the PMAY scheme was launched to deliver housing for all by 2022. Under the social welfare program, the government planned to provide affordable housing to the rural poor and the urban poor, including low-income groups, economically weaker sections, and middle-income groups.

Let’s check out the benefits under the PMAY scheme online.

Credit linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) was launched under the PMAY scheme. Under the scheme, an interest subsidy of up to INR 2.67 lakh per house is admissible for beneficiaries of economically weaker sections, low-income groups, middle-income group I and II seeking housing loans.

CLSS was initially approved for implementation in the year 2017. The scheme for EWS and LIG categories is still available. But for MIG I and II, the last date to apply for the scheme was March 31, 2021. Considering the Covid-19 impact, the government is again planning to extend the scheme for these two categories. Our mid-term analysis says that people have benefited hugely through this scheme.

Aadhaar card and biometrics are mandatory to apply for this scheme. The government might continue giving PMAY benefits under the MIG category.

To apply for PMAY online, individuals need to follow these steps:

Step1: Visit the PMAY official website at https://pmaymis.gov.in/
Step2: Select the apply online option from the ‘Citizen assessment’ drop-down menu.
Step3: Enter your Aadhaar or Virtual ID and Name as per Aadhaar.
Step4: Fill out the PMAY application form online. This includes information like state name, district name, city name, name of the planning area or development area (if applicable), a preferred component of Mission under which survey need assistance under PMAY-HFA, details of your family, address. Details of all family members. You will also need to fill in your bank account details, occupation, employment status, monthly income, etc.

Step5: Click on the disclaimer checkbox, enter the captcha and click on the Save button.

Application status can be easily tracked online on the PMAY website. For an extension of CLSS, we will have to wait till the government’s next announcement.
