Japan has waded into the latest South China Sea fray, expressing concern after a recent clash between the Chinese coast guard and a Philippine vessel that saw a sailor lose his thumb. Meanwhile, Vietnam says it wants dialogue with the Phillippines on their overlapping maritime claims.
