It appears that your eyes could help determine your risk of early death. Researchers in the U.K. have developed a machine learning model that can accurately predict a person's remaining years of life simply by looking at their retina, the tissue at the back of the eye. They determined that using these scans could predict the age of nearly 47,000 adults within three and a half years. They found that if the algorithm predicted a person's retina was a year older than their actual age, their risk of death from any cause in the next 11 years went up by two percent, and their risk of death from a cause other than cardiovascular disease or cancer went up by three percent.
