Описание к видео Mark Porter's Fatal Crash @ Mount Panorama 2006 (FatalMotorsportChannel REUPLOAD)

(NOTE: I am NOT "FatalMotorsportChannel". Just a reuploader. This video is from their DailyMotion account.)

Nicknamed by family and friends as "Didley", Mark Porter was born in Hamilton, Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand, in 1974. An experienced race car driver, he competed in the Australian Fujitsu V8 Supercar series since 2002, when he made his debut in a Ford Falcon at Wakefield Park. In the 2006 series, Porter was running third in the championship in his #111 yellow Holden VZ Commodore entered by the Hyundai-Hydraulink M-Sport racing team.

In October 2006, the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst, state of New South Wales, Australia, hosted the 15th of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar 18-round season. During the 12th lap of the 14-lap Friday, 06 October 2006 development race in sight of the Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar race, scheduled to be held in the weekend, Mark Porter suddenly lost control of his Holden VZ Commodore after clipping the wall near Reid Park, on the climb up the mountain, in an area blinded to oncoming traffic. The car spun sideways and stalled in the middle of the track, with the driver's side facing the oncoming cars

Several drivers managed to make evasive manoeuvres, but Chris Alajajian also put his Holden VZ Commodore sideways and ripped the rear of Porter's car. And David Clark who closely followed, traveling in excess of 180 km/h (112 mi/h) in his Ford Falcon, vainly tried to avoid collision and crashed violently into Porter's side door. Porter was taken by ambulance to Bathurst Base Hospital and later that same day he was airlifted to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney where he had been on life support until Sunday, 08 October 2006, when he succumbed to his injuries in late afternoon.

Mark Porter, who celebrated his 31st birthday only the previous Monday, was survived by his wife Adrienne; his one-year-old son, Flynn; his parents, Robin and Robyn Porter; his brother, Andrew, a former truck racer who in the following years contested the New Zealand V8 Supercar series driving the Hyundai-Hydraulink M-Sport #111 Ford BF Falcon. Mark Porter is buried in Hamilton Park Cemetery, Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.

After the accident, the race was immediately stopped and all racing at the track was suspended for two hours. Both cars involved in the crash were destroyed. The Australian driver David Clark who was seriously injured, was also airlifted to hospital, while Chris Alajajian was unhurt and was able to repair his car in time for the second race of the weekend, the next day.

In the subsequent round of the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar series at Surfers Paradise, Mark Porter's friend and team owner Paul Cruikshank ran a car bearing Porter's #111 and the same race number was used by the Cruickshank Racing Ford Falcon until 2009, when the team folded. His memory was perpetuated by the "Mark Porter Trophy" which was awarded to the winners of the annual Hamilton 400 street race, until 2012. And the New Zealand team Super Black Racing entered the New Zealand V8 Supercar series in 2014, using #111 as a tribute to countryman Mark Porter.
