Over the next few weeks you may see some quad bikes driving around on our footpaths. We have over 1200km of paths in the city and every four years we undertake an audit to obtain detailed video imaging and condition assessment of every centimetre.

In this short video, Louie will show you around one of the vehicles and run through some of the high tech equipment on board, then James will show you how our Asset Planners use this data to help in infrastructure management and ensuring footpaths are maintained and safe.

The assessment vehicles are operated by certified inspectors travelling at a brisk walking pace with hazard lighting and other warning devices in operation while completing assessment. Vehicles are clearly identifiable and operators will be vigilant and yield where ever possible to the needs of the pedestrian public.

All cameras are focused on the footpath surface structure with some limited viewing of areas directly adjacent. No image recordings of commercial or residential, private properties or structures will be undertaken.
