Описание к видео scoot death planning bhagat singh case study by Dr Vivek Bindra

Contrary to popular belief, Bhagat Singh did not actually kill Superintendent James A. Scott. The assassination attempt was aimed at Scott, but it resulted in the death of J.P. Saunders, a British police officer.

Here's the detailed account of the events leading up to Saunders' death:

Background:
In October 1928, Lala Lajpat Rai led a non-violent protest against the Simon Commission, which was met with brutal force by the police. During this protest, Lala Lajpat Rai was injured by a lathi charge ordered by Superintendent James A. Scott. Rai succumbed to his injuries on November 17, 1928. Bhagat Singh and his fellow revolutionaries were deeply angered by Rai's death and decided to avenge it.

The Plan:
Bhagat Singh, along with Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar, and other members of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), planned to kill Scott. They believed that this act would send a strong message against British oppression.

The Assassination:
On December 17, 1928, Bhagat Singh and Rajguru waited for Scott outside the District Police Headquarters in Lahore. Rajguru was armed and ready to shoot. However, in a case of mistaken identity, J.P. Saunders, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, exited the building instead of Scott. Rajguru shot Saunders, and Bhagat Singh came forward and fired more shots, ensuring Saunders' death. Chandra Shekhar Azad, another key revolutionary, provided cover fire during their escape.

Aftermath
Following the assassination, Bhagat Singh and his associates quickly fled the scene. To avoid capture, Bhagat Singh shaved his beard and cut his hair, a significant act given his Sikh identity. The group managed to evade arrest initially, but their actions brought them into the spotlight and increased the British authorities' determination to capture them.

This act of retaliation against British rule made Bhagat Singh a significant figure in the Indian independence movement. While the intended target, Scott, was not killed, the assassination of Saunders showcased the extreme measures Indian revolutionaries were willing to take in their fight against colonial oppression.
