Well, the first day is done and I survive unscathed. It’s been an interesting day - I’m riding a GS1300 again but it feels like a completely different bike compared to the one from Wales. Different tyres, suspension, panniers, etc. It feels way heavier and less capable in the dirt - which there will be quite a lot of.

Anyhow - I’m starting to get the feel for the week. Both the bike and the terrain. It’s different to Wales - more like home with dry gravel and smaller ruts. The trails today had lots of loose road-base type gravel which was exciting on the Pirelli Scorpion tyres (really not great for this kind of stuff in my experience). Overall the group is riding well with us all keeping a good pace and staying together.

It’s much hotter here than Wales (duh!) so the days are more tiring and because it’s Spain, the days start and finish later - we were in around 6:30pm this evening, dinner at 8:30 and it’s just on midnight as I finish this. Viva la Mediterranean lifestyle!

Tomorrow we head for the easternmost point of the Pyrenees Adventure Country Trail (ACT) and then we turn west, heading up and into France.
