Adolescence to Adulthood: Construction of well-being through exploration

Описание к видео Adolescence to Adulthood: Construction of well-being through exploration

How do recent scientific discoveries shed light in exploration, decision-making and well-being? How might challenging life events, such as a pandemic, change the way adolescents view themselves and the world around them? How does the emotional and social well-being of today’s youth impact future mental health and mental illness? To discuss these questions, we bring together three scientists whose research addresses these questions from different perspectives: understanding how electrical activity in neurons supports reasoning, exploring how early life events change brain circuitry and behavior in humans, and a clinical perspective focused on understanding and treating eating disorders in adolescents and young adults. Together, they will provide a multidisciplinary view on how discoveries in neuroscience can be leveraged to better understand the relationship between exploration, environment and behavior, from youth to adulthood.

Please join Daphna Shohamy, PhD, Kavli Professor of Brain Science and Associate Director of the Zuckerman Institute, for an in-person panel discussion on exploring the future through social affordance, decision making and mental health featuring experts from across Columbia University and Columbia University’s Irving Medical Center:

Michael N. Shadlen, MD, PhD, Professor of Neuroscience; Principal Investigator at Columbia's Zuckerman Institute; Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
