Over the past years the GKA along with key kiteboarding brands have been developing a new ISO safety standard for kiteboarding chicken loops and leashes. As a result of this a chicken loop testing machine has been created. The machine is used to perform load tests and quick release tests on new quick release systems to ensure they work properly in the real world. These tests are not easy to pass and having an ISO approved chicken loop ensures it will work properly when exposed to sand and the high loads encountered in emergency situations. The testing procedure came into effect in 2020.
