The Mityana County South Member of Parliament, Hon. Richard Lumu, was given permission by Parliament to present a Private Member's Bill called "The Administration of Parliament Amendment Bill, 2024." Among other things, the Bill aims to amend how the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) is chosen in Parliament. According to the Administration of Parliament Act, the party opposing the government with the largest numerical advantage in Parliament elects the Leader of the LoP, who is designated as a cabinet minister.
