Описание к видео Porsche 997.2 911 Belt Tensioner Replacement (2009-2012)

The 997.2 belt is driven off of the crankshaft and drives the water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor. There is only one belt on the 997.2. It should be checked periodically (every 5,000 miles, or when you change your oil) and changed every 10,00 miles.

The 997.2 uses what is known as a poly-ribbed belt (having many channels or ribs on both sides of the belt). The poly-ribbed belt setup utilizes a strut loaded belt tensioner pulley that provides the proper tension for the belt at all times, making adjustment unnecessary.

The tensioner can fail in many ways. One of the most common is the pully the belt rides on will start to make noise as the bear fails. This is the easiest fix as it can be replaced with the tensioner still on the engine. The strut that provides the pressure for the tension on the belt can fail and this fix involves removing the tensioner lever, strut and pulley from the vehicle.
