Since the beginning of 2010, two journalists have died in militant attacks while many others were wounded in Pakistan. The New York-based CPJ says threats to lives of journalists have increased in recent years. Adnan Rehmat; Executive Dir. of an NGO called Intermedia says the government should release fact finding report about the involvement of state actors in the killings of journalists and should provide safety training to reporters working in the field. Journalists Noor Elahi of Samaa TV who received injuries in a recent hospital blast in Quetta and Abdul Rehman, General Sec. of Quetta Press Club both say that often journalists put themselves in dangerous situations to find facts but they are also under pressure by their bosses to be the first to break the news which puts them in harms way. Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira says his office is willing to take suggestions and make policies to protect journalists better.
