GFF19 Interview with Cast and Director of 'Noura's Dream'

"When will we talk openly about domestic abuse? Is domestic abuse only physical? Or can it come in different forms?" We sit down in El Gouna, Red Sea with the director and leads of 'Noura's Dream', the Tunisian film making waves on the festival circuit.

The movie, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and marks director Hinde Boujemaa fiction feature debut, offers a glimpse into working-class life in Tunisia through the eyes of Noura, a woman seeking a divorce from an abusive husband. The movie has a long El Gouna Film Festival backstory; it was actually pitched at the first incarnation of #GFF back in 2017 (which how lead actress Hend Sabri found out about it); she and director Hinde Boujemaa decided to work on it together at #GFF18. And this year, Hend took home the Best Actress in a Feature Narrative Film award.
