Alan Rickman has said in interviews that Rowling told him a secret advice which helped him shape and play the character of Severus Snape. But he never told anyone what that secret advice was. Rowling later revealed that she told him about Snapes secret, and how his story would end. He alone knew. Not even the directors were given that much at the time.
